As a game built almost entirely on jump scares, Emily Wants to Play, is a great example of how effective they can be, but it also shows why jump scares alone aren’t enough to make a compelling horror game.Įmily Wants to Play starts with you, a pizza delivery driver, making your last stop of the night. They’re often accused of being a cheap and lazy way of inducing fright, but they’re a really important part of the horror toolbox.
